Biography

Per Haugaardis Director at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE). He is responsible for overall EU transport policy coordination and security. He oversees inter-institutional relations, communication, economic analysis, international issues and legal matters.

Previously, he worked at the European Commission's Secretariat-General, where he was in charge of the EU's contribution to G7 and G20 and European foreign policy, providing advice to the Commission's President and Vice-Presidents. Before that, he was the Permanent Representative of the Commission to the EU Political and Security Committee.

He has extensive experience in the area of policymaking and advising members of the European Commission. He was a member of the Cabinet of EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson and of EU Enterprise and Information Society Commissioner Erkki Liikanen.

Before joining the Commission, he was a private practicing lawyer in Brussels and Copenhagen. He has law degrees from the universitiesof Copenhagen and Oslo and from the College of Europe in Bruges.
