EUROPEAN SAFETY AND
AIR NAVIGATION COORDINATION GROUP (ESANCG)

In December 2018, Directors General agreed to create a permanent coordination group covering both safety and air navigation matters.

Its main objectives are:
  • to coordinate European contributions, including for ICAO Assemblies, and maintain dialogue with key international partners in the context of preparations for major ICAO events;
  • To maintain dialogue with European stakeholders and key international partners in the context of preparations for major ICAO events;
  • To coordinate common elements of reply to ICAO State letters deemed of strategic interest for Europe; and,
  • To report to DGs, via the Focal Point for safety matters, on the implementation of its work programme and to establish a proposal for its future work.

ESANCG is co-chaired by Kari Siekkinen (TRAFI, Finland) for ECAC and Jean-Marc Flon, DG MOVE, for the European Commission.

Its membership is composed of ECAC/EU Member States, EASA, SESAR JU and EUROCONTROL and the group can meet up to eight times per year if needed, for instance during the years where ICAO Assemblies are held.
