Drafting the ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan

More than 25 participants from Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States and ACI, IATA, European Commission and ECAC gathered in Singapore from 20 to 23 March to draft the ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP).

The objective of establishing the GASeP is to help ICAO, Member States and stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of Global Aviation Security.

Based on some overarching principles, such as Identifying, understanding and managing risk and sustainability, the GASeP defines key priorities (e.g. to address threats to global civil aviation operations, to ensure effective implementation of Annex 17 SARPs) and is complemented by a roadmap.

The draft GASeP will be presented for consideration at the next meeting of the ICAO AVSEC Panel in May 2017.
