Videoconference, 18-19 June 2026 — The Study Group on Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD) made significant progress on a number of initiatives aimed at supporting the effective and consistent use of EDDs across ECAC Member States at its online meeting on 18-19 June 2026.

A key focus of the meeting was the review of the draft EDD National Auditors Aide, a practical tool developed to assist ECAC Member States in overseeing the use of EDDs at airports by entities involved in aviation security activities, such as regulated agents. The document is intended to promote a more harmonised approach to inspecting and auditing the use of EDDs by applying a comprehensive and consistent approach across different operational environments.

The group also reviewed draft guidance material on the use of EDDs for vehicle examination, including certification and approval elements as well as vehicle EDD search methodologies. Several amendments were agreed, and the guidance is expected to be finalised at the group’s next meeting in autumn 2026.
