Dublin/videoconference, 9-10 June 2026 — The Technical Task Force met in Dublin to review progress in implementing the group’s 2026 work programme, with discussions focusing in particular on the development of a common ECAC routine testing methodology (CRTM) for explosive detection system (EDS) equipment.

Following an exchange of information on national approaches to EDS routine testing, the meeting agreed that Member States could benefit from a harmonised methodology supported by relevant guidance and best practices. The proposed CRTM would aim to promote greater consistency in testing approaches across Member States while helping to address some common challenges. The draft CRTM will be prepared in the coming months and is expected to be finalised at the next meeting of the task force (TTF/95), in October 2026.

The group also discussed the development of a simulants validation protocol. The draft document is expected to be developed by September, with finalisation foreseen at the group’s next meeting in October.
